Abstract:
This study aims to identify and analyze the characteristics of modern Qur'anic interpretation in Tafsir Al-Misbah by M. Quraish Shihab. The research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach by examining various sources related to modern Qur'anic exegesis and the interpretive methodology of Tafsir Al-Misbah. The findings indicate that this commentary is characterized by the use of clear and communicative language, contextual interpretation, and discussions that are relevant to religious and contemporary social issues. In addition, M. Quraish Shihab integrates classical Islamic scholarship with rational, linguistic, and historical approaches, resulting in a moderate and accessible interpretation. Therefore, Tafsir Al-Misbah represents an important model of modern Qur'anic interpretation that successfully bridges the universal values of the Qur'an with the needs and challenges of contemporary society.
