TANTANGAN DAN PELUANG PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA ARAB BERBASIS TEKNOLOGI DI PERGURUAN TINGGI

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the challenges and opportunities of technology-based Arabic language learning in Islamic higher education institutions (PTKI) in Riau Province, Indonesia. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach and was conducted at three PTKI institutions in Riau, involving ten informants consisting of lecturers, students, and academic administrators. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation and were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the use of technology provides significant opportunities to enhance the flexibility, accessibility, interactivity, and independence of Arabic language learning through digital learning platforms, multimedia, language-learning applications, social media, and artificial intelligence. Technology also supports the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills by providing more diverse and contextual learning resources. However, its implementation continues to face several challenges, including limited infrastructure and internet access, disparities in lecturers' digital competence, uneven student digital literacy, the linguistic complexity of Arabic, and the limited adaptation of digital learning materials and pedagogical strategies. The study concludes that the success of technology-based Arabic language learning is not determined merely by the availability of technology but by the integration of technology, pedagogy, human competencies, and institutional support. Therefore, PTKI institutions need to strengthen lecturers' digital-pedagogical competencies, develop contextual digital learning materials, improve infrastructure and technology access, and optimize the use of artificial intelligence in a critical and ethical manner.
