Evaluasi Dan Penguatan Manajemen Koperasi Majelis Al Hidayah Berbasis Prinsip Ekonomi Syariah Pada Lingkungan Pesantren Melalui Pendekatan Participation Action Research (PAR)

Pesantren cooperatives play a strategic role in supporting both economic needs and the education of Islamic economic principles, yet institutional implementation of Shariah principles remains limited. This study aims to evaluate and strengthen the management of Koperasi Majelis Al Hidayah based on Shariah economic principles using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The study involved three cooperative administrators (one chairperson and two staff) and seven students through observations, interviews, and Focus Group Discussions. Findings reveal that the cooperative manages multiple business units, including a general store, photocopy services, religious clothing and merchandise, school supplies, and construction services for educational and non-educational facilities. Key challenges identified include manual financial recording, conventional institutional status, and the absence of formal internal regulations or Shariah supervision. The management strengthening program enhanced administrators’ understanding of the differences between conventional and Shariah cooperatives, promoted the development of internal regulations, and outlined plans to improve record-keeping systems. Practically, the participatory approach effectively strengthens managerial capacity, governance, and institutional awareness. Recommended follow-up actions include ongoing mentoring, digitalization of accounting, training for administrators and members, and steps toward Shariah cooperative legalization. These interventions are expected to improve cooperative operations, foster entrepreneurial experiences for students, and support sustainable economic independence of the pesantren
