Kontribusi Tafsir Kontemporer Dalam Menjawab Tantangan Zaman

Abstract

This study aims to examine the contribution of contemporary interpretation in responding to the challenges of the times, by examining the approaches and methods used in understanding the Qur'an in the modern era. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The subjects of the study consist of various contemporary interpretation literature and the thoughts of modern interpreters, while the objects of the study include the methods, patterns, and contributions of contemporary interpretation. The data collection technique is carried out through literature studies, while the data analysis technique uses a content analysis model with an interpretative approach. The results of the study show that contemporary interpretation has contributed to answering various social and intellectual problems of Muslims through a hermeneutic approach, the maudhu'i method, and contextual interpretation. Contemporary interpreters such as Muhammad Abduh, Rasyid Ridha, and Fazlur Rahman have offered a new approach that is more adaptive to the development of the times, despite facing challenges in accepting their thoughts. This study confirms that contemporary interpretation remains relevant in bridging the understanding between sacred texts and modern reality, so that it can provide solutions to the problems of the people in the era of globalization
